Blow Pong Christmas Game

Difficulty Rating - A bit Tricky - Younger children may need help

Blow Pong Christmas Game Have you heard how kids always love playing with a box, sometimes more so that the box's contents?

Well this is a game that will really get the kids into playing with the box, and because it's Christmas time, there should be plenty of boxes hanging around that will be suitable to make the game.

To make the game board you will need...
A large but flat cardboard box, thin card, paint, some gift wrapping paper, 2 paper fasteners (the sort that have 2 pins that go through the paper and fold out flat at the back) 4 drinking straws and a Ping-Pong ball, and a printout of the goals.

Print out the goals onto thin card or stick the print out paper onto card and let it dry. Cut out the goals and make up the goals.

Cut holes in either end of the large flat box wide enough to accommodate the goals. Stick the goals into place.

If the base or 'pitch' of the box isn't a flat surface, slot some thick card into the gap to make it all level.

Give the box a coat of paint, and leave to dry.

Cut a drinking straw to stick to the top of one of the goals. Do the same with the opposite goal but with a different coloured drinking straw.

Use old gift-wrapping paper to line the pitch and glue into place.

How to make a hole using a blob of Plasticine Cut out the score dials from the goal print out. This is to help you keep count of how many goals you have scored. Make a hole in the centre of the score dial. Hold the dial against the inside of the box on the right hand side of the goal. You need to be able to see the numbers over the top edge of the box. Once you have the dial lined up, make a mark on the box using a pen through the hole in the middle of the score dial. Carefully make a hole in the box using a blob of Plasticine and a sharp pencil. Then push a paper fastener through the hole in the box, then through the score dial and fold out the fastener at the back to secure it all.

Now you're ready to play!

The Rules

You need 2 players one at each end of the pitch.

Throw a Ping-Pong ball into the centre of the pitch and the 2 players use drinking-straws to blow the Ping-Pong ball into their opponent's goal.

The first person to get 7 goals wins.

You can only blow the ball, no pushing, flicking or using the straw in any other way.
